 A.- About horses:

1.- The 5 most common pathologies of horses:

-Tetanus: Is caused by a bacterial toxin found in the soil and in the feces of horses. The symptoms of this illness include a protrusion of the third eyelied and stiff neck, progressing to overall muscle stiffness causing a "sawhorse" stance. Tetanus is often fatal, but a yearoly vaccine can prevent it.
 
-Colic: Is a acute gastrointestinal distress wich can be caused by anything from impaction inn the intestines to a stomach ache from eating too much or too fast.

-Laminitis: Is a disease of the hood thar inflames the digital laminae making it difficult for the horse to walk without pain.

-Founder: Isn't necessarily a disease of the horse, but a complication of many horse diseases. Founder occurs when a disease, such as laminitis, goes untreated for a long period of time, and most horses who founder are profoundly neglected.

-EMP: Or Equine protozoal myeloencephalitis, is aprotozoal disease common to horses -particuylarly in the southern states- and that causes neurological problems and can become serious if left untreated
